United Nations Global Compact
We have robust policies and procedures that help us comply with applicable laws and regulations, so meeting the expectations of our stakeholders. However, responsible business for us is more than legislative compliance; it also applies to how we expect our employees to act in the workplace; how they are treated; and the actions we take to do business fairly and safely, protecting our customers and the environment, operating ethically, paying taxes, and demonstrating best practice.
To underline our commitment to responsible business and to formalise the approach we already take to embed sustainability into our strategy, culture and business, Canon Europe has signed up to the United Nations Global Compact, committing to its 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.

Compliance and Actions
As a subsidiary of Canon Inc., our parent company, we adhere to the internal governance process, including taking part in the Expanded Corporate Ethics and Compliance Committee meeting, which makes decisions on measures to support compliance. We include compliance within corporate governance, alongside ethical trading, laws and regulations, economic impacts, employer and employee responsibilities and product safety.
Our internal compliance assessment group ensures we understand and consider the impacts of new legislation and regulations affecting our business before they are enacted so we can plan appropriate action. Regulatory compliance reassures our customers by helping us sell compliant and safe products in a fair and responsible way.
We comply with the relevant laws and regulations in the many countries where we operate. We take part in industry associations and groups to consider aspects of environmental regulation and product safety, aiming to stay ahead of legislative developments and actively seeking opportunities to participate in their creation. Memberships include DIGITALEUROPE, EuroVAprint, Japan Business Council in Europe (JBCE), COCIR and CSR Europe.
